There are moments in a big sister’s life when she feels so much pride and joy for her little brother. I’ve had quite a few of those kinds of moments lately. Heath has found the beginning of his journey with his true creative talent and skill that will pave the way for some truly great things to come.

Heath has been known in the Buck knife community for a while now for his knowledge, passion, and personal collection. He has researched and scoured the planet for details many collectors didn’t know. And as the last living generation of Buck knife makers pass on, it will be folks like Heath who carry on the priceless stories of how various Buck knife models came to be.

While trading phone numbers and emails with the top Buck guys and well-known knife makers in the country, knowing they have a deep respect for my little brother, might seem like the “wow” part of this story, it’s simply not. In the last few months of 2011, Heath has proven he’s the best and the only real Lucite knife builder known by all the top names. The first round of knives he produced were of such great quality and precision that he actually sickened the leaders of Buck, knowing they could not produce knives as perfected as Heath’s.

As word has spread, he’s building custom knives for people he has never met. People spot his knives and want to know who he is and where they can get one. He’s doing things that have never been done, and it’s very impressive. He didn’t go to school for this. Didn’t take a class. He was simply born to do it. And he’s getting to define and set the standards for an entire industry that’s sure to follow.

Seeing my little brother find that one thing he’s supposed to do with his life is scary and exciting at the same time. There is no telling where it will go and how it will change his life. Once day Avery and Morgan could be running the family business. Crazier things have happened.
